Has The Frank Engine Began To Derail

A Rough Run Of Form

After Wednesday night's draw away to Monaco, Tottenham now find themselves with one win in five games and if you look ahead to the run of games in November, we may be in for a rough month.

When Thomas Frank was appointed in the summer, many fans felt upbeat about his arrival. He came with a strong sense of optimism and a reputation for building efficient, stable and well structured teams. In his welcome interview with the club he also let us know what he thinks of the fans, saying "First and foremost, I think it’s a fantastic fan base,".

Growing Fan Frustration

Surprisingly after just over four months in charge some of those fantastic fans feel that he is slowly losing them. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) have been voicing contrasting opinions on the former Brentford boss.

While results look better on paper compared to last year with Spurs picking up points on some tough away days, home form has been a concern. In the four games we have played at home we have won once, lost twice, and drawn once leaving us 17th for home form.

By comparison this time last season we had only lost at home once, in the North London Derby while winning the other three. Despite having a point more than this time last year many have been left wondering if there has been an improvement.

Split Opinion

Not all supporters are turning on Frank, some have pointed out the similarities between his start to life and that of fan favourite Mauricio Pochettino's first few games in the dugout, as well as the differences between him and Nuno Espírito Santo.

The Next Few Months

Talk of Frank departing feels too premature. Tottenham sit higher in the table than we did at this stage last season, and there are clear signs of improvement in our defensive structure however the next few games will be crucial as we play the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal before we move into a busy festive period with some tough European games along the way.

This run of games will truly test the squad's depth and Frank's adaptability a quality he has been praised for in the past. If Tottenham can come through this spell with some strong results, I have no doubt Frank can win back fans but if performances dip there is always the risk of pressure building as we head into the new year.
